In today's linear fashion system, the majority of items produced end up in landfills worldwide.
At AEAE, we steer away from this take-make-waste structure by creating a circular system. Our products are crafted from what already exists and designed to be reimagined over multiple lives, with clear pathways for reuse and recycling.
Recycled or Renewable Materials
The production of virgin raw materials accounts for at least 38% of the global fashion industry’s emissions. We’re working to reduce this impact by prioritizing fabrics made from innovative bio-based materials or recycled waste.
When choosing materials, we set the highest standards for ourselves – comfort, quality, environmental and animal welfare. All our fabrics are traceable and carefully selected, sourced from vendors with eco-friendly practices and certifications. While we struggle to use entirely sustainable components such as trims, we continuously seek innovative, mindful alternatives.
Orange Peel Fabric
Our ‘silk’ fabric is made from 100% orange peel fibers certified by the Ecological Plant Fiber Certification, EPFC. This biodegradable textile is produced in a closed-loop viscose process and is made entirely from citrus waste.
Organic Hemp
We use a supple yet sturdy woven fabric made with 100% organic hemp, certified by the Ecological Plant Fiber Certification, EPFC. This biodegradable fabric is made traceable and compostable.
Organic Cotton
We use 100% organic cotton, certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS guarantees the organic materials that are traceable and mindful of chemical usage and social conditions of workers in the supply chain.
Asahi Bemberg™
Bemberg™ is biodegradable and compostable material obtained from cotton liner, certified by the Recycled Claim Standard, RCS 100. This guarantees over 95% of the fabric is traceable and ensures the fibers comply with environmental concerns.
Forest Friendly Viscose
We use viscose made in closed-loop processes with fibers obtained from sustainably managed forests. Our viscose fabrics are FSC certified, which traces the wood through all stages of production and distribution ensuring less harm to the environment.
Recycled Polyester
A few of our fabrics are polyester blends, derived from post-consumer waste. All our recycled polyester fabrics are certified with the standard GRS - Global Recycled Standard - which guarantees the origin and processes used to create the textiles.
Recycled Wool
We choose to work with a recycled wool blend due to our commitment to the environment. Blended with recycled polyester, this fabric is GRS certified, complying with environmental and social concerns.
Non-toxic Dyes
All our fabrics have been treated with chemical-free, non-toxic dyes. These have a lower impact on the environment and have been certified by GOTS, ensuring they are mindful of environmental concerns.
